Spanish Language and Culture Instructor
Franco Perez
I was born in a small town called Esperanza (Hope). In my province, all the cities are named after women because when the settlers founded the cities, they gave them to their wives.
Since I was a child, I have been interested in the arts and communication. At the age of six, I began to act in plays. I also participated in commercials, radio and television programs. I have also directed a television series that was broadcast in Argentina. Currently, I continue my work as a film director while combining my passion for communication and writing, teaching my language, Spanish, to thousands of people around the world.
I am fascinated by well-applied pedagogy, so I studied to teach Spanish as a second language. My favorite teaching method is the "flipped classroom" and I like my students to feel as comfortable as possible in my lessons.
My Journey
Recently I visited a small town in Uruguay called Colonia del Sacramento.
After a one-hour ferry ride from Buenos Aires to Colonia, I was surprised by a large wall with a giant wooden gate, it was beautiful!
Its streets are made of stone and its houses are old but very beautiful. Many of the doors of the houses are very low since the settlers who came from Portugal were short.
Colonia was a territory disputed by Spaniards and Portuguese, so the architecture is very particular as it combines different techniques, even in the same building!
The town has a lot of culture and also modern art. I decided to take a bus tour and was surprised by a bullring! It was something unexpected but very beautiful to see. In addition, the town is coastal, so you can enjoy a delicious brunch in front of the water, and on days when the sky is clear, you can see some buildings in Buenos Aires in the distance, Magnificent!
Although it is a small town and you can visit it in just one day, it is an experience not to be missed!
