Italian: Stella Mattioli, M.A.

Stella Mattioli is a native Italian speaker and Italian language instructor with extensive experience teaching Italian to students of different ages and proficiency levels. She is a Lecturer in Italian at the University of Virginia, where she teaches courses ranging from beginning to intermediate and professional Italian.

Originally from Italy, (from Poggio a Caiano, the sister city of Charlottesville!), Stella brings both academic expertise and firsthand knowledge of Italian language and culture to her teaching. Her lessons are engaging, practical, and tailored to each student’s individual goals, whether they are learning Italian for travel, work, family, or personal enrichment.

Stella is passionate about helping students feel comfortable using Italian in real-life situations and about sharing the language, culture, and everyday life of Italy with her students.
