Italian: Giulia Gavin, B.A.
Born in Rome, Italy, Giulia has lived in the United States since she was five and has
traveled back and forth ever since. She was inspired to learn other Romance
languages early on; Italian, her native language along with English, and soon after,
French, and Spanish. At Kent Place High School in Summit, NJ, she took all the
languages offered at that time: French, Spanish, and Latin. She graduated from
Georgetown University with a double major in French and Italian and a minor in
Linguistics. She has participated in many language programs such as Alliance
Française, Dartmouth Rassias program, and Berlitz and lived abroad as an adult. She
has since shared her passion in and out of the classroom to middle schoolers, high
schoolers, college students, and adults. And we mustn’t forget the little ones whom she
currently teaches at La Scuola d’Italia in NYC. She has taught and tutored for more
than twenty-five years. She loves to travel and continues to go back to Italy every
chance she gets to be with family and friends.
