Student Spotlight: Ben and Leslie
What inspired or motivated you to start learning French together.
We are in our 50s and fortunate to be able to retire early and travel. As a recently married couple we live in 2 different cities an hour apart for a few more months. The online course is a great way for us to be together when we are not and learn a new language for our retirement.
What are some of the benefits of learning a language together?
It is a shared experience for us as a couple. Something we can enjoy together in anticipation of our future adventures. We are able to help each other study and practice/“discuss” whose pronunciation is correct. Anne is very accommodating and patient. She is able to Instruct the two of us simultaneously with ease. She adjusts to our needs as a couple and capabilities as adult learners.
How would you describe your couples' course to a friend? What three adjectives would you use?
Definitely more fun as a couple. We can help each other. It requires commitment and we are able encourage each other. It creates wonderful “AHA!” moments when watching a French movie or listening to a French news podcast and we hear words and phrases and understand them!
Exciting - We know this will provide us with opportunities we would otherwise not have.
Challenging-It can be difficult and definitely requires commitment.
Rewarding- Tackling a challenge is always rewarding and we recognize that it is an important step in achieving our goals.
